DRAFT PROGRAMME AND MEDIA ARRANGEMENTS FOR HERITAGE DAY, 24 SEPTEMBER 1996
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Enoch Sontonga, the composer of Nkosi Sikele' iAfrika, will be honoured during the Heritage Day celebrations at the Braamfontein Cemetery this year.
Main events will be the renaming of Show Grounds Road in Braamfontein to Enoch Sontonga Avenue, the unveiling of a memorial in honour of Enoch Sontonga by President Mandela, and the renaming of that section of the cemetery to Enoch Sontonga Memorial Park.
