The Government of the North West Province today announced that an investigation conducted at the Provincial Department of Public Works, revealed unauthorized expenditure to the amount of approximately R20 million.
The expenditure was incurred for the purpose of obtaining electronical equipment on behalf of the Provincial Departments of Health and Transport.
The Government conducted the said investigation as part of its commitment to instil responsible government and to stamp out maladministration. The matter is at present being considered with a view to taking legal and disciplinary steps against the officials responsible for the unauthorized expenditure.
