The acting Premier of Gauteng, Mr Paul Mashatile, held urgent discussions today with the MEC for Safety & Security, Ms Jessie Duarte, around the security of ANC offices in the province.
Their discussions follow last night's grenade explosion at the entrance to the ANC's Johannesburg headquarters, in which one person was injured.
Special precautions have been put in place to ensure the security of both the ANC's head office in Plein Street and the organisation's regional office in Jeppe Street. A team from the provincial Safety & Security secretariate is currently assessing security measures at the two buildings.
These precautions are being taken to ensure not just the safety of those working in the buildings, but also of residents, motorists and pedestrians in the city centre.
