MS MARIA RAMOS APPOINTED NEW DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF FINANCE

At a meeting this morning, Cabinet confirmed the appointment of Ms Maria Ramos as the new Director-General of Finance.

The appointment, which is effective immediately, was made after a fully transparent process which involved advertising, short-listing ad subsequent interviewing by a panel of Cabinet Ministers.

Ms Ramos is currently in Swaziland attending Southern African Development Community meetings. The Minister of Finance, Mr Trevor Manuel, left directly after the Cabinet meeting for Swaziland, where he will attend the SADC Finance Ministers meeting in Mbabane tomorrow.
