LAST CHANCE FOR PRIVATE RADIO
The closing date for private sound broadcasting applications is just seven working days away for Cape Town and Durban, and one month and 14 days to go for Gauteng.
The IBA warns that if applications do not reach the Authority by 14h00 on the dates specified, they will not be considered.
THe dates are:P Cape Town and Durban - July 2 1996. Gauteng - August 16.
There is a licence application fee of R30 000 which is non-refundable and must accompany the application, and both must be lodged with the Licensing Department of the IBA AT khasho House, 26 Baker Street, Rosebank, or at Private Bag X31 Parklands 2121.
"We have received numerous telephone enquiries about applying for private radio licences" says Head of Licensing, Jack van der Merwe. "but few completed applications, particularly in Cape Town and Durban. "We are concerned that there are aspirant private broadcasters out there who just are not aware that time is running out."
