STATEMENT-TAKERS IN KWAZULU-NATAL

A group of statement-takers from the officers of The Truth and Reconciliation Commission in KwaZulu/Natal will spend six days in the Port Shepstone area next week taking statements from all people who wish to appear before the commission when it comes to the area, or anyone who wishes to have human rights violations against them or their loved ones properly investigated.

The TRC statement-takers will operate from the St. Catherine Anglican Church from next Monday, July 1 up till Saturday July 6. These statement-takers will be available on all these days from9am to 3pm.

People who are expected to come to this venue to give their statements about cases of gross human rights violations that happened between 1960 and December 1993 are expected from people from the entire Port Shepstone Region, including surrounding areas like Mzumbe, Port Edward, Izingolweni and Margate.

The St Catherine Anglican Church is next to the Hlanganani Primary School near the Taxi Rank. The actual Truth and Reconciliation hearings in Port Shepstone, are scheduled to be held over two days, on August 12 and 13.
