NEW MEC FOR NORTH WEST
The Acting Premier of the North West province, Mr Satish Roopa, today (Friday) announced that North West MEC for Agriculture, Rev J Tselapedi, will temporarily take over the portfolio of Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
This follows the decision by the National Party to withdraw from the national and provincial governments.
NP member of the provincial legislature Mr Amie Venter vacates his post as MEC for Tourism and Environmental Affairs at the end of June this year.
Mr Roopa also announced that ANC parliamentarian Ms Edna Molewa has been designated to assume the position as MEC for Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
Mr Roopa is acting premier of the North West in light of Mr Popo Molefe being abroad to attract investment to the province.
