FISMER ON TRADITIONAL LEADER

Issued by: SA Communication Service

The Presidential Task Group has received reports that an individual who is said to be a traditional leader in KwaZulu-Natal might be summoning presiding officers to a meeting.

Although this report has not been confirmed and has been brought to the attention of the MEC for Traditional Affairs in the province, it should be noted that no person or body other than the returning officer concerned has the right to call a meeting of presiding officers in any area, and any unauthorised attempts to do so could be seen to impinge on the integrity of the elections, and should immediately be reported to the relevant returning officer or to the provincial administration.
