STATEMENT BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT ON THE RECENT ISRAELI ELECTIONS
The South African Government wishes to offer its congratulations to Mr. Benyamin Netanyahu, on his election as Israel's first directly elected Prime Minister.
In line with its consistent and established policy, the South African Government publicly commits itself once again to continue its unqualified support for the Middle East Peace Process and all of the region's leaders who are committed to this.
It is the hope of the South African Government that the new government in Jerusalem will meet all of Israel's international obligations and pursue with zeal and vigour the process of peacemaking which has brought so much hope to the Middle East.
