HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S QUARTERLY REPORT

North West's Department of Health, Social Welfare and Public Media has issued a quarterly report in which it indicates the district committee for National Nutrition and Social Development programme does not exist, especially in former Bop areas.

The report says newly appointed staff will assist in establishing such committees.

"There can be several district committees in a particular magisterial district nd some districts are too vast or too densely populated. Hence, the need more than a district committee in order to function in a practical manner".

According to the report, head office will provide a list and an update of existing districts as well as names of relevant government officials.

On Aids/HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, the report says numerous consultative meetings were held with regard to the implementation of the programme for youth at school including the Education department, NGOs etc.

"SACS service has been secured to assist in media coverage of activities throughout the province. The department's communication service sub-directorate is presently actively involved in assisting with the launching of interior advertisement in busses. Group Africa did a provincial road show during the National Condom Week campaign. The latter had produced a video which which will be circulated throughout the province".

The report indicated that the directorate's proposed budget was developed, finalised and submitted for approval to the Executive department and the PSC.

The department budget of R2 136 million was approved.

Four regional heads were appointed for Mmabatho, Rustenburg, Klerksdorp and Vryburg.
