BELT TIGHTENING CAMPAIGN APPROVED BY CABINET
The belt tightening campaign for members of the Parliament initiated by President Mandela and approved by the National Cabinet will be effected by the North West Legislature from June 15.
The salary cut will be based on different levels of MPs. Levels to be affected are those of the Premier by 10%, Speaker and Members of the Executive Council by 7,5%, deputy speaker and chief whip by 5%. Other members of the Provincial Legislature fall outside the stipulated categories.
The cut will be based on the basic salaries.
