NORTH WEST TO HOLD MAJOR MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE
7 May 1996
The North West Government is to hold a major conference for departmental heads and senior management on Thursday this week, dealing with the transformation of the civil service.
It is believed the conference is the first among the nine provinces. Among the issues to be discussed are a vision and a mission for the North West province and strategic change management.
According to a spokesperson for the Director General's Office, Mr Jan de Waal, the various departments will focus on how they can contribute to developing the North West to ensure better quality services to the public and customer satisfaction.
Mr de Waal said the conference will last for three days and would also delve into creating a leaner and more efficient public service by involving all public servants in the process of change.
The three-day conference is set to develop action plans to address strategic focus areas and identify committed individuals to drive the plans and the resources necessary to carry them out.
We will also establish a follow-up process to monitor progress with the action plans and to evaluate our success, said Mr de Waal.
The conference will be opened by Premier Popo Molefe.
