PRESS STATEMENT

It is hereby notified for general information that the Budget Vote NO.20 for the Department of Labour will soon be tabled in Parliament. We wish to bring to your attention the details with regard to the proposed process.
Firstly, the Committee reaffirmed its commitment to the principle of affording all interested parties an opportunity to present their views to the Committee. It is the desire of the Committee that what is finally agreed upon should represent the greatest confluence of views possible. To effect this principle the Committee decided to proceed as follows.
(1) The Portfolio Committee on Labour has decided to hold a hearing on Budget Vote No.20 and take evidence from all interested parties. Thereafter the Committee will table its recommendation to Parliament. The hearing will be on the 18th and 19th o April 1996.
(2) Indications of an intention to lead oral and/or written evidence to the Portfolio Committee should be submitted on or before the 15th of April 1996.
