JOINT PRESS RELEASE TAUNG HOUSING PROJECT. 11 MARCH 1996
A meeting was held at the Taung Sun on the 10th March 1996.
Present were representatives of Department of Land Affairs, Provincial Department of Agriculture, Kgosi Suping (Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders), Huhudi Transitional District Council, Taung Housing Committee, Kgosi Mankuroane and Baphuduhucwana Tribal Authority, Mr Seremane (Commission: Restitution of Land Rights) and MEC Africa (Local Government, Housing, Planning and Development).
The meeting agreed the matter pertaining to the development of Taung farm No. 894 for either a Housing Project or agricutural purpose should be resolved as speedily as possible and to the satisfaction of all the parties.
All parties agreed and committed themselves to the process of negotiations discussed at that meeting.
The meeting was characterised by a co-operative spirit and a desire to amicably resolve the problems to the best interest of the people of Taung at large.
Further meetings are envisaged and the public (people of Taung in particular) will be duly and comprehensively informed of the outcome.
