STATEMENT BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
Representative of the Departments of Constitutional Development, Public Works, the Office of the President, the South African Police Services and the government of KwaZulu - Natal met at Ulundi this morning to prepare for the meeting of His Majesty the King Goodwill Zwelithini, President Nelson Mandela, Chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Mr Jacob Zuma and the AmaKhosi of the Province of KwaZulu - Natal which is scheduled for the 15 March 1996.
The meeting was opened by the Premier of the Province of KwaZulu - Natal, Dr Frank Mdlalose who wished the participants success. The Premier was accompanied by the MECs Prince Gideon Zulu, and Chief Nyanga Ngubane.
The meeting considered a variety of issues related to the convening of the meeting and decided that further deliberations take place on Monday, 11 March 1996 after consultations with the principals.
The meeting also discussed logistical preparations and assigned responsibilities to all the affected departments.
A comprehensive statement will be issued early next week.
