NEW BOARDS OF ATOMIC ENERGY CORPORATION, COUNCIL FOR NUCLEAR SAFETY, MINTEK AND COUNCIL FOR GEOSCIENCE ANNOUNCED
Cabinet approved the appointment of new Boards for the Atomic Energy Corporation, the Council for Nuclear Safety, Mintek and the Council for Geoscience at its meeting on 21 February 1996.
A transparent and consultative selection process was followed to reconstitute the Boards involving advertisements in the national press and the compilation of a short list by a representative panel. THe final selections of the new Boards were done by a subcommittee of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Energy Affairs by means of personal interviews.
In view of the impending Commission of Inquiry into the Diamond Industry and the current restructuring of the CEF Group of Companies, the proposed reconstitution of the South African Diamond Board ad the CEF Boards of Dirctors will be submitted to Cabinet at a later stage. These new Boards are constituted as follows:
