MINISTER NZO VISITS NORTHERN CAPE A seminar seeking to coordinate the activities of the Development of Foreign Affairs and the Northern Cape Province will take place in Kimberley on 16 February 1996. This is a continuation of the Department of Foreign Affairs' consultation with the nine provinces in matters pertaining to foreign policy and international affairs, which began with a presentation by Minister Nzo to the Intergovernment Forum on 21 August 1995.
The objectives of the seminar are:
1. Assistance to the Northern Cape Provincial Government in the establishment and maintenance of foreign relations within the framework of national foreign policy through:
the identification of needs and expectations of Provincial Government;
informative discussions regarding the activities of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the international arena; and
the disposal of expertise and facilities of the Department of Foreign Affairs to the Province.
2. The creation of a framework for the inclusion of provincial administration in the foreign policy formulation proess
The Foreign Affairs 9 person delegation includes Minister A. Nzo, the Director General, Rusty Evans and other senior officials from the Department.
The Northern Cape Provincial Government is represented by Premier Dipico, members of the Executive Council, Speaker, Director-General and Heads of Departments.
We hope that this will be the beginning of fruitful collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs.
