EXEUTIVE DEPUTY PRESIDENT THABO MBEKI TO ADDRESS WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM - DAVOS, SWITZERLAND
On Wednesday 31 January 1996, Executive Deputy President Thabo Mbeki left South Africa for Davos Switzerland, where he is attending the annual informal gathering of world economic leaders. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is being held in Davos from the 1 - 5 February 1996.
The annual meeting includes the heads of international and regional organisations, heads of state, government and members of government who in the course of the year have shaped discussions on the ongoing geopolitical and economic issues.
Deputy President Mbeki will lead a session on "The role of culture in politics" on Saturday 3 February 1996.
While at Davos Deputy President Mbeki will also have discussions with various leaders including Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterress, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yevheng Marchuk, the Vice President of the European Commission Sir Leon Brittan and Swedish Foreign Minster Matt Hellstrom.
Executive deputy President Mbeki is expected back in South Africa on the 6 February 1996.
