MEDIA STATEMENT PREMIER'S US ITINERARY
GAUTENG Premier Tokyo Sexwale will hold talks with US Vice President, Al Gore in Washington next Wednesday.
Mr Sexwale will arrive in the US on Tuesday February 6 from Davos. During his nine-day stay in the US, Mr Sexwale will be accompanied by a Gauteng government delegation which includes Economics MEC Jabu Moleketi, Safety and Security MEC Jessie Duarte and Health MEC Amos Masondo.
The Premier's visit will include meetings in Washington DC with top Congressional leaders including Nancy Kassebaum. He will also meet officials from the State Department.
Mr Sexwale will tour the 1996 Olympic sites in Atlanta, before meeting Coreta Scott King and Former US ambassador Andrew Young.
The Premier and his delegation will look at policing methods in New York City before meeting potential investors
Mr Sexwale will hold high-profile meetings with the business community in Los Angeles and California.
On February 15, the Gauteng government delegation will arrive in Cuba to discuss ways of strengthening political and business links. The delegation will be in Cuba three days.
In Cuba Mr Sexwale plans to make a courtesy call on Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
Mr Sexwale and his counterpart Conrado Martinez Corona will sign a Gauteng-Havana City Twinning agreement in Cuba's capital Havana.
The Premier will also visit health, educational, economic and social centres in Cuba.
Mr Sexwale is expected back in South Africa on February 17.
