PRESS STATEMENT STATEMENT ON APPOINTMENT OF STAFF

The Minister of Labour, Mr Tito Mboweni and the Director-General, Mr Sipho Pityana, are pleased to announce that the process of building a new labour Department is nearing completion.
A new structure was crated early in 1995 to give effect to the vision and goals of the Ministry of Labour as outlined in our five-year Programme of Action as well as the restructuring requirements of the Ministry of Public Service and Administration.
To date 26 new staff members have been appointed in the top management echelon structure of the Department.
The process of staffing at senior management level is almost completed with the appointment of new people at Director Level.
The latest appointments are:
1. Ms Sibongile Winifred Magojo (37), has been appointed Director of Finance and Computerised Information Systems in the Office of the Compensation Commissioner. She becomes one of the senior deputies to the Compensation Commissioner. She holds a B.Com. degree from the National University of Lesotho. She obtained a B.Compt.(Hons) and a Certified Theory in Accounting (CTA) from the University of South Africa. She completed a training contract at Deloitte & Touche and joined Transnet in May 1995 as Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting.
2. Mr Jerry Majatladi (39), has been appointed Director of Communication Services at Head Office. He holds a B.A. from the University of South Africa. He served as the Press Officer of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) since 1988 while at the same he was head of the union's media and research department.
3. Ms Nene Kegomoditswe Yvonne Molefi (30), has been appointed Director of Personnel Management in the Chief Directorate of Administration at Head Office. She holds a B.A. (Soc), from the University of Fort Hare and a B.Soc. Sc. (Honours) from the University of Cape Town. She was a social worker in Cape Town and Soweto before joining ESKOM. She was Eskom's Corporate Affirmative Action Manager before joining the Department.
4. Ms Eva Dikeledi Tladi (43), is Director of Financial Management in the Office of the Unemployment Insurance Commissioner. She becomes one of the deputies to the Unemployment Insurance Commissioner. She holds a B.Com. degree from the University of Bophuthaswana. She was head of the Department responsible for the Bophuthatswana Provident Fund, Accountant of SEBO Commercial Companies and the Government Pension Fund. In 1993 she was seconded by SEBO to Ernest & Young to serve articles.
5. Mr Terence Chauke (25) has been appointed Provincial Director of Gauteng (North). He obtained a B.Admin. degree from Turfloop University and a post graduate diploma in human resource management from Wits Business School. A former Eskom employee, first as Training Advisor and later an RDP Co-ordinator, a position held until leaving to join our Department.
6. Ms Thembisile Lauretta Nene, is appointed the Provincial Director in Kwazulu/Natal. A social work graduate of the University of Zululand. She worked for the Career Information Centre before being appointed.
7. Mr Lindsay Cary Falkov (31) holds an MA degree in Economics from Wits University where he was a junior lecturer. He worked for the National Business Initiative focusing on financing training and later joined the Urban Foundations Education and Training Policy Unit as a policy analyst. Falkov joins the Department as the Director of Human Resources Development at Head Office.
8. Dr Peliwe Lolwana (45) is appointed as the Director: Central Organisation for Trade Testing at Olifantsfontein. She is in possession of a PhD degree in Counselling Psychology which she obtained in 1991 at the University of Massachussetts. She is formerly a Director of Policy Research and Evaluation at the Independent Examinations Board.
9. Mr Velile Listen Ntsubane (52) has been appointed the Provincial Director of Eastern Cape. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in political studies from the University of Transkei. He has been working for the government of Transkei since 1964 as a clerk and later as director of foreign affairs and labour relations. From 1992 to 1995, he was Deputy Director General in the Department of Labour in Transkei. During the establishment of the new Department of Labour he was appointed regional representative of the Eastern Cape until his new appointment.
10. The Department of Labour has recommended Mr Jesse Maluleke (36), for appointment as the Provincial Director of Gauteng (South). The Department is awaiting the response from the Public Service Commission. Mr Maluleke joined the National Union of Mineworkers in 1986 as a regional education officer and two years later became an organiser in the region of Klerksdorp. He later moved to the head office to serve as the union's national campaign's co-ordinator and collective bargaining officer. In 1993 he was seconded to COSATU to co-ordinate the federation's national elections campaign. On his return after elections he became the international affairs co-ordinator, until he joined the Ministry of Labour in 1995 to co-ordinate the LRA process.
