Issued by: Ministry for Safety and Security
MEDIA RELEASE BY THE MINISTER FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY, SYDNEY MUFAMADI, JANUARY 26, 1996, PRETORIA, (RESPONSE TO AN ARTICLE IN THE CITIZEN, JANUARY 26, 1996, P4).
To the extent that APLA existed, APLA was a military wing of the PAC. The PAC contested national elections in 1994, and also tried its luck in the local government elections in November 1995.
If APLA is making such threats, which the Ministry views doubtlessly in serious light, the PAC will have to make its stance publicly known vis-a-vis the alleged threats.
Should anyone issue threats to the safety of the public and/or the police in the name of APLA or any other organisation, they should be ready to face the dire consequences.
