Mr Justice ME Kumleben, chairperson of the Kumleben Commission, will present its report to the Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Dr Dawie de Villiers, on 17 January 1996 in Pretoria. The Kumleben Commission was appointed by Dr de Villiers to inquire into the alleged smuggling of ivory and rhino horn, particularly of Angolan and Mozambican origin, to and through South Africa.
Members of the media are invited to a press conference on 17 January 1996 at 10:30, when a copy of the 200 page report will be handed to journalists to study. Mr Justice Kumleben will officially present his report to Dr de Villiers at 11:30, when journalists will have an opportunity to ask questions. There will also be a photo opportunity.
The press conference will be held in the Conference Room (4th floor) at the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Fedlife Forum Building, cor. Van der Walt and Pretorius streets, Pretoria.
