STATEMENT ON THE RETIREMENT OF THE CHAIRPERSON OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.
The President has granted the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, DR R H Venter permission to retire with effect from 1 January 1996 in accordance with the relevant law. Dr Venter was appointed Chairperson of the Commission with effect from 16 May 1994.
Dr Venter made a significant contribution in the continuing transformation and rationalisation of the public service whose aim is to serve a new and democratic South Africa. The President has expressed his appreciation for the leadership and commitment displayed by Dr Venter to an efficient and effective public service throughout his term of office.
The President will announce details concerning a successor for Dr Venter in due course.
