NORTH WEST NAMES OF FOUR MEMBERS OF LIQUOR BOARD

PRESS STATEMENT BY ACTING MEC FOR ECONOMIC AFFAIRS MR MARTIN KUSCUS - MMABATHO, DECEMBER 14 1995:

Acting MEC for Economic Affairs in the North West Province Mr Martin Kuscus on Thursday announced the names of four out of five members of the North West Interim Provincial Liquor Board.

The board begins operating in the province on December 15 this year following consultation with Minister of Trade and Industry Mr Trevor Manuel.

It will operate for six months and is aimed at expediting applications for liquor licences. Members of ]he Interim Provincial Liquor Board in the North West are Advocate B OB Ratshikana (chairperson), Advocate A Tsele (vice-chairperson), Superintendent J A Brink, who was nominated by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, and Mr B Rootman.

A proposed budget will be submitted to the Provincial Treasury Committee for the board function as soon as possible. A fifth member of the board will be announced in the near future. The release of the names of the North West Interim Board has been timed to coincide with an announcement by Minister Manuel on Friday, December 15.
