MEDIA STATEMENT BY MR R P MEYER, MINISTER OF PROVINCIAL AFFAIRS AND CONSTITUTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The MEC's for Local Government of Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal have been consulted regarding the outstanding local government elections in these areas.
Both the MEC's have indicated that elections in the outstanding areas will be possible on, and preparations ready by 29 May 1996.
It has therefore been decided that local government elections in the outstanding areas in KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape will be held on 29 May 1996.
An official notice to this effect will be published in the Government Gazette soon.
