The Provincial Cabinet of the North West Government, at its regular meeting on 22 November 1995, had an opportunity to reflect on issues related to an educational debate currently enjoying media attention.
The North West Government is committed to statements by Prof Sibusiso Bengu that all schools would either be Public or Private. The National Agenda for Education is fully endorsed by the provincial government. Any suggestion that the Provincial Cabinet or individual MECs are opposed to the process of transformation of Education is rejected as it has no factual basis.
The Cabinet of the North West Province, as a collective, is committed to ensure that all educational changes in the country as championed by the Provincial Department of Education are fully supported by all members of the Cabinet.
Officials associated to Government, who may have projected a different perception, are cautioned to keep to their line functions and leave political issues to be pronounced on by the relevant political functionaries.
