MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL CIVIL SERVICE ORGANISATION

Issued by: North West Communications

The National Civil Service Organisation(NACSO) which represents the majority of Public Servants in the Province is concerned about allegations that Public Servants/Civil Servants are on strike. It is becoming a norm in Mmabatho that everytime people are marching they are called Civil Servants.

This allegation is tarnishing the image of Civil Servants who must serve the Government of the day.

NACSO wishes to make it clear that our members are not on strike nor are they lead by Concerned Citizens.

Our grievances will be addressed through collective bargaining structures available to us and only if there is a deadlock can we resort to industrial action. Presently the majority of people in that group of Concerned Citizens are from Parastatals and one does not understand the logic of calling them Civil Servants.

NACSO however, implore its members to bring their concerns to the union through their shopstewards and avoid being associated with actions that tarnish the image of the Civil Service.

WE SERVE THE GOVERNMENT OF THE DAY AND WE CAN CHANGE THE GOVERNMENT THROUGH THE BALLOT BOX NOT THROUGH SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES.
