The Ministry of Safety and Security has noted recent threats of a civil war in the media by certain individual/s and groupings after negotiations with the Office of the President on the extension of the indemnity deadline.
We want to assure the public and to place on record that the government will not be intimidated by such threats. Any threat to public safety must be treated seriously. I have therefore instructed the National Commissioner to monitor the activities of those individuals or organisations that are threatening to break the law.
Should any attempt be made by any individual or organisation to break the law, the police will act in a manner that is appropriate to the circumstances.
