PRESS STATEMENT BY ADV JOHNNY DE LANGE, MP, CHAIRPERSON OF THE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON JUSTICE RELATING TO VARIOUS ASPECTS AFFECTING THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE

I have recently had occasion to respond to various issues pertaining to the administration of justice, which I make available for your information and attention.

Find following this the following:

1. A letter to the Director General of Justice, dated 18 August 1995, pertaining to twelve law graduates residing in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, who are unemployed and seek employment opportunities.

2. A letter to the Director, Law Society of the Cape of Good Hope, dated 26 October 1995, pertaining to the publication of the identity and details of attorneys in the Western Cape who allegedly bribed Deeds Office officials. (See accompanying copy of the letter from the Law Society).

3. A letter to Mr. N. Pretorius of the Legal Aid Board, dated 26 October 1995, pertaining to the alleged provision of legal aid funding to persons who appear to have substantial resources, financial and otherwise, at their disposal.
