STATE VISIT BY HE ALI HASSAN MWINYI, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H E Mr Ali Hassan Mwinyi, will pay a three-day state visit to South Africa from 5 to 7 October 1995 at the invitation of President Nelson Mandela.

President Mwinyi, who steps down early next month after two terms as head of state, is visiting South Africa to take leave of President Mandela and the South African people. He is also reciprocating President Mandela's state visit to Tanzania in May this year.

President Mwinyi is accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Sitti Mwinyi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Abdulrahman Kinana.

The Tanzanian leader will meet President r official talks on Thursday 5 October to discuss areas of co-operation between their two countri attend a State Banquet at the Presidential Guest House the same evening.

On Friday 6 October, President Mwinyi will pay a series of visits to institutions in and around Pretoria. He returns to Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
