Dissolution of the Board of Directors of the North West Transport Investment (Pty) Ltd., including all its subsidiary boards:
The Government of the North West Province today wishes to announce the immediate dissolution of the board of the North West Transport Investment (Pty) Ltd. with effect from this morning.
This means that the main board consisting of seven members and subsidiary boards totalling 16 members will no longer control the NTI.
The NTI group of companies controls transport operation in the North West, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga. About 2000 buses are controlled by the NTI and about 133 million passengers are ferried every year. The NTI also covers 136 million kilometres per year and has a staff complement of about 6800.
I wish to also announce with immediate effect the appointment of a new interim board of directors consisting of the following:
1. Advocate Martin Mabiletsa (Chair) 2. Advocate Willy Huma (Deputy Chair) 3. Mr Dick Lenamile 4. Mr Obed Segabutla 5. Mr Mangel Phanchia 6. Mrs M Kgantitswe 7. Advocate Marike van Aswegen.
In addition, a two-person committee made up of Michael Katz and Mr Barry Adams is to start studying the NTI to advise the government on restructuring NTI.
