STATEMENT BY THE NORTH WEST PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT BY MR ROCKY MALEBANE-METSING ON TUESDAY, 16 MAY 1995:
"The North West Provincial Government, noting the public resignation of Mr Rocky Malebane-Metsing on Tuesday, 16 May 1995, from the political party that elected him to the North West Provincial Legislature, points out that in accordance with the Interim Constitution of South Africa, Act 200 of 1993 (sub-section 133 (b)), he automatically ceases to be a member of the Legislature from the time of resignation and, thus, all payments will henceforth cease.
"The Provincial Government further points out that the onus now rests with the political party under whose banner he was elected to the Provincial Legislature, namely the African National Congress, to act in line with the dictates of the Constitution of South Africa.
"The Provincial Government, therefore, expects the ANC to fill the vacant seat they now hold in the Provincial Legislature.
"Finally, the Provincial Government notes with contempt the allegations he made against the leadership of the North West Government and reserves the right to respond when and if required."
