The Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry is responsible for dealing with legislation introduced into parliament by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, overseeing the work of the Department of Trade and Industry, and making recommendations and proposals to the Ministry and Department. The committee has 26 members drawn from 6 parties represented in parliament. It is divided into five working groups: Trade and Industrial Policy; Small Business Development; Intellectual Property; Competition Policy; Agriculture and Food Policy.
