SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA)

PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 11, SERVICES, OF THE REGISTRATION OF AN SGB FOR MARITIME

National Standards Body (NSB) 11 for Services hereby registers an SGB for Maritime for a period of three years until November 2003.

BRIEF OF THE SGB
  1. Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and standards in the sub-field Transport and Logistics from Level 1 through to Level 8 in Maritime engineering, deck, port operations, freight management and fishing [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
  2. Generate the following qualifications and standards in accordance with Authority requirements, at NQF levels 1 to 8:
  1. Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 2 above to the National Standards Body [Regulation 24(1)(c)].
  2. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
  3. Review these qualifications and unit standards and effect the necessary changes [Regulation 24(1)(b)].
  4. Maintain liaison, during the process of developing standards and qualifications, with other related Standards Generating Bodies, such as those for Transport and Logistics, as and when directed by NSB 11 [Regulation 24(1)(e)]
