PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 07, HUMAN AND SOCIAL STUDIES FOR THE REGISTRATION OF AN SGB FOR TRADITIONS, HISTORY AND LEGACIES

NSB 07 hereby registers an SGB for Traditions, History and Legacies for a period of three years.

BRIEF OF THE SGB

  1. Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and standards in the sub-field Traditions, History and Legacies from NQF level 1 through to level 8 [Regulation 24(1) (e)].

  2. Generate standards in Traditions, History and Legacies leading towards a General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) at level 1, in accordance with Authority requirements [Regulation 24 (1) (a)].

  3. Generate the following qualifications and standards along an interdisciplinary perspective, in accordance with Authority requirements, in the areas of the practice of regional and national development science and planning; education; heritage and community maintenance; history; archives; historical and cultural tourism; the dissemination of the human past - journalism, art, cultural resource management and environmental consultancy; and professional research. The qualifications and standards will include the obtaining of experience in communication, writing, general knowledge, evaluation, investigation and assessment from various methodological perspectives [Regulation 24 (1) (a)].
  1. Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 1 and 3 above, to the NSB [Regulation 24 (1) (c)].
  2. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24 (1) (d)].
  3. Liase with any other SGBs in the sub-field of Traditions, History and Legacies, as required [Regulation 24 (1) (e)].
  4. Perform such other functions as may from time to time be delegated by SAQA and NSB 07, Human and Social Studies [Regulation 24 (1) (e)].
