SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY
PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 07, HUMAN AND SOCIAL STUDIES, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR RELIGIOUS STUDIES AND MULTI-RELIGION EDUCATION |
NSB 07 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Religious Studies and Multi-Religion Education in the sub-field of Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society.
PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB
Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society from level 1 through to level 8 [Regulation 24 (1) (e)].
Develop standards for Multi - Religious Education as a component of Life Orientation for the General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) at level 1, in accordance with Authority requirements [Regulation 24 (1) (a)].
Generate standards for Religion, World Views and Ethics towards a Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) at levels 2 4, in accordance with Authority requirements [Regulation 24 (1) (a)].
The following exit level outcomes based qualifications shall be generated:
- First Degree in Religion, World Views and Ethics (level 6)
- First Degree in Religious Studies (level 6)
- Honours Degree in Religious Studies (level 7)
- Masters Degree in Religious Studies (level 8)
- Doctorate in Religious Studies (level 8)
Recommend qualifications and standards generated in 1, 2 and 3 above to the NSB [Regulation 24 (1) (c)].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24 (1) (d)].
Liaise with other SGBs in the sub-field of Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society [Regulation 24 (1) (e)].
Perform such other functions as may from time to time be delegated by the NSB.
