PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 08, LAW, MILITARY SCIENCE AND SECURITY, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC RELATED- AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW ENFORCEMENT |
NSB 08 hereby registers an SGB for Traffic, Traffic related and Local Government Law Enforcement for a period of three years, until 11 May 2003.
BRIEF OF THE SGB
Research and identify current law enforcement standards and qualifications (national and international) and determine the applicability thereof to the South African requirements [Regulation 24 (1)(e)].
Research and identify the South African requirements regarding law enforcement standards and qualifications [Regulation 24 (1)(e)].
Determine those South African needs that are not addressed by current law enforcement standards [Regulation 24 (1)(e)].
Generate the following unit standards-based qualifications, in accordance with Authority requirements [Regulation 24 (1)(a)], at NQF levels 1 to 7:
- Certificate in Security Patrol (level 1)
- Certificate in Licensing Administration (level 1)
- Certificate in Traffic Patrol (level 2)
- Certificate in Traffic Law Enforcement (level 2)
- Certificate in Basic Traffic Law Enforcement (level 3)
- Certificate in Licensing (level 3)
- Certificate in Examination of Vehicles (level 3)
- Certificate in Local Government Security Practice (level 3)
- Certificate in Municipal By-law, Ordinance and Regulation Enforcement (level 3)
- Certificate in Municipal Policing and Traffic (IMPTO 1&2) (level 4)
- Certificate in Municipal Security (IMLE 1) (level 4)
- Certificate in Licensing (ILO 182) (level 4)
- Certificate in Traffic Safety Management (1&2) (level 4)
- Diploma in Municipal Policing and Traffic (IMPTO 3&4) (level 5)
- Diploma in Municipal Security (IMLE 2&3) (level 5)
- Diploma in Licensing (ILO 3) (level 5)
- Diploma in Traffic Safety Management (3&4) (level 5)
- Diploma in Road Transport and Transportation Management (level 5)
- Degree in Traffic Safety Management (level 6)
Consult on a regular basis with the inter-liaison committee, which consists of representatives from, amongst others, the proposed SGB for Crime Prevention, and with all other SGBs in the sub-field Safety in Society (Regulation 24(1)(e)) in the generation of qualifications and standards.
Recommend the standards and qualifications generated under 4, above, to the NSB [Regulation 24 (1)(c)].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24 (1)(d)].
Update and review standards and qualifications [Regulation 24 (1)(b)].
