PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 04, COMMUNICATION STUDIES AND LANGUAGE, OF THE REGISTRATION OF AN SGB FOR ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT

NSB 04 hereby registers an SGB for Archives and Records Management for a period of three years, until 23 June 2003.

BRIEF OF THE SGB

1. Develop reaming pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Information Studies from level 4 through to level 6 [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
2. Generate the following qualifications and standards in accordance with Authority requirements, at NQF levels 4 to 6:

• National Certificate in Archival Studies (level 4)
• National Higher Certificate in Archival Studies (level 5)
• National Diploma in Archival Studies (level 5)
• First Degree in Archival Studies (level 6)
• Higher Diploma in Archival Studies (level 6) [Regulations 24(1)(a)].

3. Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 2, above, to the NSB [Regulations 24(1)(c)].
4. Recommend criteria for registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulations 24(1)(d)].
5. Perform relevant functions that may from time to time be delegated by the NSB [Regulations 24(1)(e)].
