EMPLOYMENT OF EDUCATORS ACT, 1998
DATE BY WHICH ALL EDUCATORS EMPLOYED IN TERMS OF THE EMPLOYMENT OF EDUCATORS ACT, 1998 OR THE SOUTH AFRICAN SCHOOLS ACT, 1996, MUST BE REGISTERED OR PROVISIONALLY REGISTERED WITH THE SOUTH AFRICAN COUNCIL FOR EDUCATORS (SACE)
I, Kader Asmal, the Minister of Education, hereby give notice in terms of section 29(4) of the Employment of Educators Act, 1998, (Act No. 76 of 1998) that no employer may with effect from 31 March 2000, employ or retain in employment an educator who is not registered or provisionally registered with the South African Council for Educators.
Educators employed in terms of the Employment of Educators Act, 1998 or the South African Schools Act, 1996 who are currently not registered with SACK will be regarded as being provisionally registered. This provisional registration will be effective for the period 31 March 2000 to 30 June 2000.
