GENERAL NOTICE

The NSB has decided to establish and register an SGB for Logistics and Transport Operations. Logistics and Transport Operations embraces a holistic logistics chain, which

includes the main four processes:

• Storage
• Operational Management
• Handling (Lifting)
• Transport

Logistics and Transport Operations includes one of the following categories:

• Freight (refers to any commodity, whether in loose, bulk or packaged form as well as livestock)
• Passenger

The SGB will be registered in the sub-field Transport Operations and Logistics, and will liase closely with all the other sub-fields envisaged under Services.

PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB

1. Generate the following standards and qualifications in accordance with SAQA requirements on levels 2, 3 and 5 [Regulation 24 (1)(a)]:

• National Certificate for Driving Vehicles over 3,5 ton (Level 3)
• National Certificate in Freight Handling (Level 3)
• National Diploma in Freight Handling (Level 5)
• National Certificate in Furniture Removal (Level 2)
• National Certificate in Rail Operations (Level 3)

2. Recommend standards and qualifications in 1 above to NSB 11 Services [Regulation 24 (1)(b)]
3. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies for the standards and qualifications generated in 1 above [Regulation 24 (1)(d)]
4. Perform such other functions as may from time-to-time be delegated by NSB 11 Services [Regulation 24 (1)(e)]
