NOTICE TO INCREASE DAILY TIME- SLOTS FOR THE TRANSMISSION OF ELECTION BROADCASTS ON THE REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES RELATING TO PARTY ELECTION BROADCASTS AND POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENTS DURING THE ELECTION PERIOD FOR THE 1999 GENERAL ELECTIONS
SPECIFIC PROVISIONS IN RESPECT OF ELECTION BROADCASTS
The Independent Broadcasting Authority, hereinafter referred to as the Authority, in terms of Section 78(1) of the Independent Broadcasting Authority Act 153 of 1993, as amended, published a notice on the Regulations and Guidelines Relating To Party Election Broadcasts and Political Advertisements During The Election Period For The 1999 General Elections, in Government Gazette Number 19922 Vol.406, Regulation Gazette No 6487, Government Notice No R 427 dated 1 April 1999.
The relevant section being 4.2.1 which read as follows: make available, on every day throughout the election broadcast period four time-slots of two minutes each for the transmission of election broadcasts, provided that the Authority shall be entitled to prescribe by regulation an increased number of daily time- slots for the transmission of election broadcasts; Authority is now revising the said provisions to read as follows:
4.2.1 make available, on every day throughout the election broadcast period eight time-slots of two minutes each for the transmission of election broadcasts, provided that the Authority shall be entitled to prescribe by regulation an increased number of daily time-slots for the transmission of election broadcasts.
