PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 06 MANUFACTURING, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR AIR-CONDITIONING
REFR1GIRATION AND VENTILATION

NSB 06 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for AIR-CONDITIONING REFRIGERATION AND VENTILATION

Proposed SGB for AIR-CONDITIONING REFRIGERATION AND VENTILATION

Proposed Brief
  1. To develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Manufacturing and Assembly in organising field 06 from levels 1 to 5 [regulation 12(1)(e)]
  2. To generate AIR-CONDITIONING REFRIGERATION AND VENTILATION qualifications and unit standards in the sub field in accordance with the Authority requirements for NQF levels 1 through 5.

These would cover the areas of Reading drawings; Handling refrigerants; Cleaning and inspection of equipment; Copper tube work; read diagrams; repair and maintain equipment; use instruments; install compressors; Test and charge systems; fault finding; water piping and pumps; Heat exchangers; overhaul compressors; Wiring diagram design; piping design and equipment selection; understanding Psychrometrics, Molier charts and fan laws.'[regulation 21(1)(a)]

  1. To recommend and align the following qualifications:
  • Learner Technician levels 1 to 3
  • Technician level 4
  • Master Technician level 5
  1. To recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies Regulation 24(1)(d)].
