PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 07, HUMAN & SOCIAL STUDIES, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR ETHICAL AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES |
NSB 07 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Ethical and Religious Studies in the sub-field of Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society.
PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB
Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society from level 2 through to level 5 [Regulations 24(1)e)].
Generate the following unit standardsbased qualifications in the sub-field of Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society in accordance with Authority requirements, for NQF levels 2-5, for competencies in the practice of Ethical and Religious Studies The World of Ideas, in the areas of: Ancient Civilization (including Ancient Greece and Rome); Enlightenment Rationalism; Renaissance and Modern Humanism; Romanticism/Transcendentalism; Scientific and Social Darwinism; Marxism/Leninism; Existentialism; Postmodernism; Cosmic Christian Worldview; Islamic Worldview; Traditional African Worldview [Regulation 24(1)(a)]:
- Certificates in Ethical and Religious Studies The World of Ideas (Levels 2-4)
- Diploma in Ethical and Religious Studies The World of Ideas (Level 5).
Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 2, above, to the NSB [Regulation 24(1)(c)].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
Liaise with other SGBs in the sub-field of Religious and Ethical Foundations of Society [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
Perform such other functions as may from time to time be delegated by NSB 07, Human and Social Studies.
