PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 11, SERVICES, OF THE REGISTRATION AN SGB FOR HAIRDRESSING, COSMETOLOGY AND BEAUTY

NSB 11 hereby registers an SGB for Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beauty for a period of three years, until 9 December 2002. The SGB is registered in the sub-field of Personal Care, and will liase closely with all the other sub-fields envisaged under Services.

BRIEF OF THE SGB

  1. Review and update existing qualifications in Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beauty so as to

1.1 develop learning pathways in the sub-field for Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beauty; and
1.2 produce unit standards-based qualifications in the Further Education and Training Band [Regulation 24(1)(e)].

  1. Review and update unit standards generated for a qualification in Afro Hairdressing at Levels 2, 3, and 4 for submission to NSB 11 [Regulation 24(1)(b)].
  2. Generate unit standards in the Further Education and Training Band [Regulation 24 (1)(a)] for qualifications in:

3.1 Aromatics
3.2 Beauty Consultancy
3.3 Beauty Therapy (General)
3.4 Beauty Therapy (Body Care)
3.5 Beauty Therapy (Level 4)
3.6 Beauty Therapy for Aestheticians
3.7 Complementary Beauty Services
3.8 Nail Technology
3.9 Temporary and Permanent Hair Removal
3.10 Aromatherapy
3.11 Reflexology; and
3.12 Massage.

  1. Generate unit standards in the Higher Education and Training Band [Regulation 24 (1)(a)] at Level 5 for qualifications in:

4.1 Master Hairdressing; and
4.2 Salon Management.

  1. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies for the qualifications and standards generated in 2 to 4 above [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
  2. Recommend the standards and qualifications in Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beauty referred to in 2 to 4 above [Regulation 24 (1)(c)].
  3. Perform such other functions as may from time to time be delegated by NSB 11 (Services) [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
