SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATION FRAMEWORK
PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 03, BUSINESS, COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES |
NSB 03 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Financial Services.
PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB
Identify transformation, development and equity issues relevant to the sub-field Finance, Economics and Accounting in NQF organising field 03 and develop mechanisms to include these issues within standards and qualifications as envisaged in 2 below [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
Generate the following unit standards-based qualifications in accordance with Authority requirements:
- Certificates in Financial Services Practice (in the areas of Banking, Asset Management, Investments, Short and Long Term Insurance, Micro-Finance, Stock-Broking and Trust Services) at NQF Levels 2 to 4
- Diploma in Financial Services (in the areas of Financial Solutions, Structuring of Risk, Provision of Insurance and Retirement Benefits, Marketing Financial Services, Financial Asset and Investment Management, Planning and Administration of Estates and Trusts) at NQF Level 5.
- Bachelors Degree in Financial Services Management (in the areas of Financial Systems Management, Asset and Investment Management, Risk Management, International Trade, and Treasury Management) at NQF Level 6.
- Masters and Doctoral degrees in one or more of the areas of Global Financial Services and Risk Structuring at NQF levels 7 and 8 [Regulation 24(1)(a)].
Develop learning pathways for qualifications and unit standards for Financial Services in the sub-field Finance, Economics and Accounting in NQF organising field 03 from levels 2 to 8 [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
Recommend the qualifications generated in 2, above, to National Standards Body 03 [Regulation 24(1)(c)].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1) (d)].
Liase with the proposed SGBs for Accountancy and Financial Management and for Economics in the sub-field Finance, Economics and Accounting in the generation of qualifications and standards and with other relevant SGBs generating qualifications and standards in the area of Management in the organising field [Regulation 24(1)(a) & (e)].
Accept and perform other related functions as requested by NSB 03 [Regulation 24(1) (e)].
