SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA)
PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 06, MANUFACTURING, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR BEVERAGES |
NSB 06 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Beverages.
PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB
Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Manufacturing and Assembly from level 1 through to level 8 [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
Generate the following unit-standards based qualifications in the sub-field Manufacturing and Assembly, in accordance with Authority requirements, at NQF levels 2 to 6, in the areas of primary and secondary production across brewing, wine and spirits production, and the production of carbonated and non-carbonated beverages [Regulation 24(1)(a)]:
- Certificate in Beverage Packaging (NQF level 2)
- Certificate in Beverage Processing (NQF level 2)
- Certificate in Cellar Operations (NQF level 2)
- Certificate in Brewing (NQF level 3)
- Certificate in Distilling (NQF level 3)
- Certificate in Cooperage (NQF level 3)
- Advanced Certificate in Beverage Packaging (NQF level 4)
- Diploma in Brewing (NQF level 5)
- Diploma in Master Brewing (NQF level 6)
- Degree in Viticulture (NQF level 6)
- Degree in Unology (QF level 6)
- Degree in Distilling Technology (NQF level 6)
Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 2 above to the NSB [Regulation 24(1)(c].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
