SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA)

PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 03, BUSINESS, COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

NSB 03 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Public Administration and Management

PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB

  1. Research and identify the South African requirements regarding Public Administration and Management standards and qualifications [Regulation 24(1)(e)].

  2. Research and identify current Public Administration and Management standards and applicable qualifications (national and international) and determine the applicability thereof in the South African context [Regulation 24(1)(e)].

  3. Generate unit standards-based qualifications outlined below, in accordance with Authority requirements, at NQF levels 5 to 8 including the areas of Strategic Public Administration and Management, Public Financial Administration and Management, Public Personnel Administration and Management, Public Ethics Administration and Management, Development Administration and Management and Public Policy Management.

  1. Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 3, above, to the NSB [Regulation 24(1)(c)].

  2. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1)(d)].

  3. Liaise with the following SGBs in the process of developing the unit standards based qualifications:
