SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA)

PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 03, BUSINESS, COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT STUDIES, OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB FOR ECONOMICS

NSB 03 has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Economics.

PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB

  1. Develop learning pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the sub-field Finance, Economics and Accounting from level 2 through to level 5 [Regulation 24(1)(e)].
  2. Generate unit standards for learners in Economics in the sub-field Finance, Economics and Accounting, in accordance with Authority requirements, at NQF levels 2 to 5 in the areas of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Development Economics, International Economics, Public Finance, Labour Economics, Monetary Economics, and Quantitative Economics, and combine them into the following qualifications:
  1. Liaise with other relevant SGBs in the sub-field in the generation of qualifications and standards common to the sub-field [Regulation 24(1)(a) & (e)]
  2. Recommend the qualifications and standards generated under 2 and 3, above, to the NSB [Regulation 24(1)(c)].
  3. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
