GENERAL NOTICE

Notice 1193 of 1999

PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 11, SERVICES, OF THE REGISTRATION OF AN SGB FOR TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS OPERATIONS

NSB 11 hereby registers an SGB for Transport and Logistics Operations for a period of three years, until 31 October 2002. Logistics Operations embraces the logistics chain, with regard to:

Storage
Warehouse and Distribution
Operational Management
Freight Handling

Transport includes the following categories:

Freight (referring to any commodity, whether in loose, bulk or packaged form)
Passenger
Livestock

The SGB is registered in the sub-field Transport and Logistics Operations, and will liase closely with all the other sub-fields envisaged under Services.

BRIEF OF THE SGB

Generate the following unit standards-based qualifications in accordance with SAQA requirements at levels 2, 3 and 5 [Regulation 24(1)(a)]:

Certificate in Driving Vehicles 3,5 Ton and Heavier (level 3)

Certificate in Freight Handling and Logistics (level 3)

Diploma in Freight Handling (level 5)

Certificate in Furniture removal (level 2)

Certificate in Rail Operations (level 3)

Recommend the qualifications generated in 1, above, to NSB 11 (Services) [Regulation 24(1)(c)].
Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies for the standards and qualifications generated in clause 1 above [Regulation 24(1)(d)].
Perform such other functions as may from time to time be delegated by NSB 11 [Regulation 24 (1)(e)].
