SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA)

PUBLIC NOTICE BY NSB 02 CULTURE AND ARTS,
OF AN APPLICATION TO REGISTER AN SGB
FOR HERITAGE MANAGEMENT STUDIES

NSB 02, Culture and Arts, has received an application to recognise and register an SGB for Heritage Management Studies in the sub-field of Cultural Studies.

PROPOSED BRIEF OF THE SGB

  1. Develop reaming pathways for potential qualifications and unit standards in the subfield of Cultural Studies from level 2 through to level 6 [Regulation 24 (1) (e)].

  2. Generate the following unit standards-based qualifications in Heritage Management Studies, in accordance with Authority requirements:

Certificate in Heritage Management Studies (level 2)
Certificate in Heritage Management Studies (level 3)
Certificate in Heritage Management Studies (level 4)
Diploma in Heritage Management Studies (level 5)
BA in Heritage Management Studies (level 6) [Regulation 24 (1) (a)]

  1. Recommend the qualifications and unit standards generated under 2, above, to the NSB [Regulation 24 (1) (c)].

  2. Recommend criteria for the registration of assessors and moderators or moderating bodies for Heritage Management Studies [Regulation 24 (1) (d)].
